Brig. Gen. Prof. Dr. MD Tanvirul Islam

Brig. Gen. Prof. Dr. MD Tanvirul Islam is a distinguished Surgeon. He currently serves as the Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at Universal Medical College Hospital Ltd., Dhaka, since August 2022. Dr. Tanvir’s expertise spans general surgery and colorectal surgery, and he is known for advancing surgical techniques while providing exceptional care. He also holds a Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery from the National University Hospital, Singapore, solidifying his specialization in colorectal treatments. Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Tanvir has worked in numerous prestigious military and civilian medical institutions, including his tenure at the Armed Forces Medical College and Combined Military Hospitals in Bangladesh. Notably, he also served as a General Surgeon at a UN Level-II Hospital during the United Nations Mission in Liberia. In addition to his clinical duties, he contributes to medical education, serving as a Clinical Tutor for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Armed Forces Medical College and Armed Forces Medical Institute in Dhaka. As the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Armed Forces Medical College, he plays an instrumental role in advancing medical research in Bangladesh.
