Brig. Gen. Prof. Dr. MD Tanvirul Islam

Brig. Gen. Prof. Dr. MD Tanvirul Islam is a distinguished and highly respected Surgeon. He currently serves as the Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at Universal Medical College Hospital Ltd., Dhaka, a position he has held since August 2022.

Dr. Tanvir’s expertise spans General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery, and he is widely recognized for advancing modern surgical techniques while providing exceptional patient care. He also holds a Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery from the National University Hospital, Singapore, which further strengthens his specialization in advanced colorectal treatments.

Throughout his extensive professional career, Dr. Tanvir has served in several prestigious military and civilian medical institutions. His experience includes working at the Armed Forces Medical College and Combined Military Hospitals in Bangladesh. Notably, he also served as a General Surgeon at a UN Level-II Hospital during the United Nations Mission in Liberia.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is actively involved in medical education and training. He serves as a Clinical Tutor for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Armed Forces Medical College and the Armed Forces Medical Institute in Dhaka. Furthermore, as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Armed Forces Medical College, he plays an important role in advancing medical research and academic development in Bangladesh.
