Laser circumcision removes the foreskin with a laser instead of a blade: the edge is sealed as it is cut, so there is less bleeding, no stitches and less pain. The procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes, most patients go home the same day and light daily activity resumes within two to three days.
Every procedure is carried out by a consultant-level surgeon.
Circumcision removes the foreskin, the fold of skin that covers the glans of the penis. It is done for medical reasons - a foreskin that is too tight, or one that keeps getting infected or inflamed - and also for personal, cultural or religious reasons, in children and in adults. Laser circumcision does the same job with a laser instead of a blade: the skin is removed to the right length and the edge is sealed at the same moment it is cut.
It is why the bleeding and swelling are so much less than after a conventional cut - the laser closes each small vessel as it goes, so the wound edge is already sealed by the time the dressing goes on. A foreskin that has become tight and cannot be pulled back does not stretch out on its own.
Diagnosis is made from the examination itself: how far the foreskin retracts, whether it is tight, and whether there is scarring, ballooning or infection under it. No scan is needed; in children the history of ballooning or repeated infection is noted.
At Primitive Health Care the procedure is done as a day case. The area is numbed, the foreskin is removed with the laser and the edge is sealed without stitches. It takes 20 to 30 minutes, most patients go home the same day, light activity resumes within two to three days and complete healing takes two to four weeks.

No cost for the first consultation and no obligation to book anything.
Both are real options. This is how they differ in practice.
| Open surgery | Laser surgery | |
|---|---|---|
| Cuts and incisions | Cut and closed the conventional way | Sealed by the laser, no stitches |
| Stitches | Many stitches around the cut | None needed |
| Pain afterwards | More, needs stronger painkillers | Mild, managed with routine medication |
| Bleeding | More | Minimal - the laser seals as it cuts |
| Hospital stay | Sometimes overnight | Same day discharge |
| Return to work or school | Seven to ten days | Two to three days |
| Risk of wound infection | Higher | Low |
Laser treatment is not right for every patient or every grade of the condition. Your surgeon will tell you honestly if open surgery is the better choice for you.
What actually changes for you, day to day.
The laser seals the edge as it cuts, so there is nothing to stitch and nothing to take out later.
Most patients go home within a few hours of the procedure rather than staying in hospital.
Light daily activity usually resumes within two to three days instead of a week or more.
The laser closes the small blood vessels as it works, so bleeding during the procedure is minimal.
The sealed edge is closed from the start, which keeps the risk of wound infection low.
Your procedure is done by a senior surgeon at Primitive Health Care, with the same team looking after you from consultation to discharge.
Step by step, so there are no surprises.
The cost depends on whether the procedure is done for a medical reason, the type of anaesthesia, the hospital you choose and the operating surgeon. Send your details and a care coordinator will call you with an exact figure. There is no obligation to book.
